    This all time Zoffany classic has been repainted in a relaxed watercolour style. A hand drawn interpretation of an original document  its influences are thought to come from a late 19th century French artwork  painted to emulate earlier (17th to early 18th century) woven and embroidered textiles. Quirky and uplifting  Baroque-style scrolling foliage and stylised flowers give an overall effect that is rather grand  hence the name Pompadour.
