Zoffany

Avalonis is a mythical landscape of small interlinking islands  threaded together like inviable chapters. Created by Royal College of Art graduate  Ruth Blanke  they characterise the connection between humans and animals. Avalonis represents the flow of eternal life  navigating and negotiating  limited only by the challenges we face. Produced on sumptuous cotton velvet or smart cotton satin.

Bringing a luxurious feel to any interior these four stunning jacquards are inspired by original domino designs in the Zoffany archive. Despite their provenance the designs share a contemporary feel and an almost 3D appearance. Updated as a range of very smart and hugely versatile geometrics each design is an excellent coordinate and a wonderful way to add interest into a room. Domino papers are the earliest form of wallpaper printed by hand and originally used as book covers or for lining chests of drawers. Most popular during the 18th century decorative single sheets were occasionally used to adorn the walls of smaller rooms and it’s these decorative papers that have influenced our collection of Domino Weaves.

Evoking the colours of natural cut marble  our lightweight 100% chintzed linen is contemporary and ever so slightly polished. First produced by Zoffany as a wallpaper  this design is inspired by French marble  a symbol of elegance and refinement found within the entrance halls of Europe’s country houses.

This all time Zoffany classic has been repainted in a relaxed watercolour style. A hand drawn interpretation of an original document  its influences are thought to come from a late 19th century French artwork  painted to emulate earlier (17th to early 18th century) woven and embroidered textiles. Quirky and uplifting  Baroque-style scrolling foliage and stylised flowers give an overall effect that is rather grand  hence the name Pompadour. Produced on dual purpose 100% linen and printed in England.

This classic chinoiserie layout of a peony trail with blossoms and birds was designed by mural artist  Rosie Mennem and displays her contemporary mural style of painting. Printed in jubilant colourways on a blend of linen and viscose  it is a softly textured cloth that has the look and handle of pure linen but without the creasing and coordinates with the wallpaper and silk fabric of the same name.
