Koi River distils the tranquillity of fresh water, capturing the soundless rhythm of the life therein. Koi meander just below the surface of a crystal-clear mountain lake. The pleasing repetition of their reticulated scales and the slight ripples they create, offers a gentle regularity and mesmeric quality to the composition. The fine pen-work with its subtle tonal shifts gives a sense of balance and dimension to the complex of patterns. Designed as a series of panels, the inks are applied in a way to appear crisp, whilst the metallic paper on which they are printed reflects light with a gentle blur. Each 10 m roll contains three matching drops of 3.3 m.
