New into our shops this week are two beautiful new rug collections by Romo and Villa Nova – these two great British brands have collaborated with luxury Belgium Flooring Manufacturer: Louis De Poortere to bring you their famous designs reimagined as a series of soft to touch Flatweave and a selection of warm and cozy Handtufted rugs.
Flatweave describes a rug which is woven on a traditional loom, rather than knotted. A flatweave rug is created on a loom by interlocking the warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. There is a lot of human involvement needed in the creation of woven rugs of this type and flatweave rugs are slimline and have a textured feel. A flatweave rug will give your home a gorgeous homespun look which is very on trend these days.
A hand tufted rug is made by punching strands of wool into a canvas which has been stretched onto a frame with the help of a hand-operated tool. This process is relatively quick and easy and does not require the same level of skill that hand-knotting does, which makes hand tufted rugs beautiful and affordable.
These rugs are available now from both of our shops – they are made to order in various sizes. Prices start at £450
Flatweave rugs take around 8-10 weeks to be made and delivered and Handtufted rugs may take up to 10-12 weeks.
